Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President Alok Kumar has made a strong public appeal for immediate legal action to protect the sanctity and interests of the historic Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Alok Kumar shared a poster on Instagram featuring a picture of the grand Ram Temple in the rising sun. In this poster, he made four key demands to address alleged irregularities within the temple trust. Titled “In the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Case,” the poster appealed to authorities to take concrete action.
The VHP has made the following four key demands regarding the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya:
- An FIR should be filed immediately to initiate legal proceedings.
- Necessary investigations into ongoing temple-related cases should be expedited.
- A fast-track court should be established or activated to ensure daily hearings and timely justice.
- The guilty must be punished.
Alok Kumar concluded his message in the poster with “Jai Shri Ram.” His appeal relates to alleged irregularities in donations deposited in the hundis (donations) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The trust was formed in 2020 following the Supreme Court’s decision in 2019 to oversee the construction and operation of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. The trust has come under scrutiny due to alleged financial irregularities related to donations from devotees.
Billions of rupees in cash, gold, silver, and valuables were collected through donation boxes and campaigns, but serious questions have been raised about the missing funds. Initially, the amount was estimated at ₹7-7.5 crore, but later it was claimed that the amount was in hundreds of crores.
A major controversy surrounds a 2021 land deal in which the trust allegedly purchased a plot for ₹18.5 crore, while an associate had purchased it just minutes earlier for ₹2 crore. This raised suspicions of overpricing and possible misuse of public donations.
In June 2026, new allegations from former employees and activists sparked political turmoil, prompting the Uttar Pradesh government to form a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the Trust’s request. The SIT is investigating donation accounts, land transactions, missing valuables, and procedural flaws.
Alok Kumar has demanded an FIR, a speedy investigation, a fast-track court trial, and severe punishment for the guilty to restore public confidence. The Trust has denied any major irregularities and stated that an audit is currently underway, while the controversy is fueling calls for greater transparency.
This new demand comes at a time of sustained national interest in the Ayodhya Ram Temple. The temple was inaugurated in January 2024, following a landmark Supreme Court verdict in 2019, resolving the decades-old dispute. Since then, the temple has become a major pilgrimage site and a symbol of Hindu cultural resurgence.
VHP leaders have consistently maintained that any attempt to undermine the temple’s sanctity, whether through vandalism, encroachment, or administrative negligence, should be dealt with strictly under the law. The demand for a speedy judicial process demonstrates Hindu organizations’ seriousness about preserving the hard-won victory achieved during the Ayodhya movement.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has submitted its preliminary report to the government in the Ayodhya Ram Temple offering theft case, has expanded the scope of its investigation. The investigation team is now gathering evidence, records, and documents from those who have made lofty claims. In this connection, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will appear before the SIT today in connection with the Ram Temple offering theft case. Sanjay Singh claims that he has evidence related to donation theft and scams in the purchase and sale of land in Ayodhya. Meanwhile, Champat Rai, secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, who is facing allegations of donation theft, has maintained silence. Citing the SIT investigation, Champat Rai has refused to provide records of the trust’s income, expenditure, donations, and bank accounts.
Champat Rai’s refusal to provide records of the trust’s income, expenditure, donations, and bank accounts raises the question: is he doing so to cover up the irregularities committed without receipts? It is noteworthy that a businessman has reported donating a large quantity of silver to the Ram Temple, amounting to crores.
Dr. Raju V. Manwani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Castle Group of Companies, claimed that on January 26, 2021, he handed over 200 silver bricks, each weighing one kilogram, to Champat Rai for the Ram Temple on behalf of the entire Sindhi community. He was not given a receipt for this donation. Champat Rai stated that he would first investigate how and where the silver would be used, then inform them, and then a receipt would be issued.
