The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made a major change to Aadhaar-related mobile services starting June 30th. The new Aadhaar app will now become the primary platform for users, replacing the old mAadhaar app. The new app aims to make Aadhaar-related tasks easier, secure, and completely digital, eliminating the need to repeatedly visit Aadhaar service centers for even minor tasks.
According to UIDAI, the app has received more than 31 million downloads in less than five months since its launch. Nearly 4 million people have updated their mobile numbers, and 850,000 users have used the address update feature.
The new Aadhaar app brings several new features compared to the previous mAadhaar app. Users can now access many essential services directly from their smartphones.
The following features can be availed from the comfort of your home with this new Aadhaar app:
Updating the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
Updating the address in Aadhaar.
Downloading e-Aadhaar.
Viewing Aadhaar authentication history.
Booking an Aadhaar Seva Kendra appointment online, and locking and unlocking biometrics with a single click.
