Now you don’t need to visit any government website or different payment apps to pay your electricity or water bills. This new WhatsApp feature allows you to perform all these tasks.
Electricity and Water Bills: Pay electricity and water bills for your home or shop.
Gas and Recharges: Book LPG cylinders and piped gas bills.
FASTag Recharge: Instantly recharge your vehicle’s FASTag.
Credit Card and Loan EMIs: Pay pending credit card bills and any loan installments.
Insurance Premiums: Pay your life insurance or vehicle insurance installments.
This feature is designed to be extremely easy to use. When you open your WhatsApp, you’ll see a ‘₹’ (rupee) icon at the top of the home screen. As soon as you tap the ₹ icon, ‘Payments Home’ will open. Here, you’ll see a list of all your past payments, upcoming pending bills, and different billers.
The three most amazing things about this new feature:
1. Summary of everything in one place: WhatsApp will automatically find and pre-fetch all your past bills and show them in one place. Next time, you’ll be able to make a payment with just one tap.
2. Multiple accounts with the same service provider: If you have two connections with the same company, such as a home electricity bill and an office bill, you can manage both in one place.
3. Make payments as per your choice: You can choose your preferred payment method. You can pay using UPI, debit card, or credit card.
To make a bill payment using WhatsApp, follow these steps:
Step 1: First, open your WhatsApp and click the ₹ icon at the top.
Step 2: Select the bill category and your biller as per your requirement.
Step 3: Enter your consumer number or account details and confirm.
Step 4: Your bill amount will automatically appear on the screen; please check it.
Step 5: Now, select your payment mode (UPI, debit, or credit card).
Step 6: Enter your PIN or password, and your bill will be successfully paid.
Meta India Managing Director Arun Srinivas said on this occasion that for millions of people in India, WhatsApp is already the easiest way to connect with loved ones, communicate with businesses, and book services like metro tickets. He said that by introducing the bill payment feature, we are making people’s everyday work even simpler. Now users will not have to juggle between different apps nor will they have the tension of remembering the last date of the bill.
If you are not able to see this ₹ icon in your WhatsApp yet, then there is no need to panic. The company is gradually rolling out this new ‘Bill Payments’ feature. In the next few weeks, this update will reach the phones of all Android and iOS users in India. Just keep updating WhatsApp on time by going to the Play Store or App Store of your phone.
