Samsung has rolled out a new and useful update for its Galaxy smartphone users in India. Now, Samsung Wallet users will no longer need to type in their 4- or 6-digit UPI PIN every time they make a UPI payment. You can authorize payments directly using your phone’s fingerprint sensor. This feature works on on-device biometric authentication. This means that your fingerprint details are verified within your phone, making the process not only fast but also very secure.
If you use apps like Paytm, PhonePe, or CRED in India, you may have noticed that they also offer biometric or fingerprint payment options. However, the maximum limit for biometric payments in these apps is usually ₹5,000. For amounts above that, you must enter a PIN. Samsung Wallet has taken the lead by increasing this limit to ₹10,000. This means that if you’re making a payment of ₹10,000 or less, your fingerprint alone will do the trick without entering a PIN. For payments above ₹10,000, you’ll need to use your normal UPI PIN.

In today’s hectic world, entering a UPI PIN in crowded places can be quite irritating. Sometimes, entering an incorrect PIN can cause transactions to fail, and your bank account may be blocked for a few hours. Samsung Wallet’s new fingerprint feature is the best solution to this problem. A fingerprint scan reduces the chances of failed transactions to almost zero, saving you time.

The biggest fear when making a payment at the market or at a bill counter is that someone might peek into your phone from behind and see your UPI PIN. This update to Samsung Wallet completely protects you from this type of shoulder-surfing attack. Since you don’t have to type the PIN on your phone screen, there’s no chance anyone will see your PIN. This is the safest way to make payments in public places.

Many people wonder if fingerprint payments are safe. Samsung Wallet runs entirely on Samsung’s in-house Knox security platform. Knox is a hardware-level security system that encrypts your fingerprint data and sensitive information and stores it in a secure digital locker. It protects your data from any kind of digital attack or physical hacking. Therefore, using your fingerprint for UPI authentication is completely safe.

Samsung Wallet isn’t just limited to UPI payments. It serves as an all-in-one app for Galaxy users. You can tokenize your credit and debit cards and make tap-and-pay (NFC) payments without touching them. It also offers utility bill payments like electricity, water, and recharges. You can also store your digital keys, boarding passes, movie tickets, and government ID documents (like Aadhaar, PAN card). Now, with the addition of fingerprint UPI, this app has become even more useful for users.

If you’re a Samsung Galaxy phone user and frequently make small and large UPI payments daily, this update will be a game-changer. Especially if you frequently make payments between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000, Samsung Wallet offers greater convenience than other apps. You don’t even need to download a new app; it’s already built into your Samsung phone. Simply update it, set up your fingerprint, and enjoy superfast payments without any hassle.
