Samarth Chaudhary will be Bihar’s next CM. He was elected leader at a BJP Legislature Party meeting. Vijay Sinha announced his name at the meeting. State President Sanjay Saraogi and BJP Observer Shivraj Singh Chouhan were present. Dilip Jaiswal and Mangal Pandey also supported Samrat Chaudhary’s nomination.
Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to the Governor on Tuesday. He arrived at the Raj Bhavan in the same car with Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Chaudhary. Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister on November 20, 2025. If he resigns today, April 14, the term will be 145 days. This will be Nitish Kumar’s second short term. Previously, in 2000, he was sworn in as Chief Minister on March 3, but had to resign on March 10.
Political activity in Bihar was intense since Tuesday morning. Sanjay Jha, Vijay Chaudhary, and Lalan Singh arrived at the Chief Minister’s House early in the morning. Following this, Samrat Chaudhary also arrived. After a half-hour meeting, Vijay Chaudhary, Samrat Chaudhary, and Nitish Kumar left the CM House in the same car. Vijay Chaudhary sat in the front seat, while Samrat Chaudhary and Nitish Kumar occupied the back seat.
Nitish Kumar appeared emotional during the last cabinet meeting. He stated that since he came to power in 2005, he had worked to the best of his ability, and that the new government would continue to receive his guidance. After the meeting, several ministers described Nitish Kumar’s tenure as historic.
