Simpsons fans are claiming that the iconic show has again predicted the future after an episode aired in 2006 appears to show a submarine close to the Titanic.
It is not the first time the iconic animation has seemingly predicted historical events before they even happened – including Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential run and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
But many have now pointed out that the episode, produced by Mike Reiss, has uncanny comparisons to the missing Titan submarine – as the Coast Guard confirmed that debris has been found in the area it vanished.
Reiss himself took a trip in the missing OceanGate sub, long after the episode was created and aired.
Season 17’s 10th episode, titled ‘Homer’s Paternity Coot,’ shows Homer Simpson reconnecting with his long-lost father Mason Fairbanks, who salvages lost treasures from the sea.
But many have now pointed out that the episode has uncanny comparisons to the now missing Titan submarine
Fairbanks gives a speech about their mission before they begin their expedition, telling workers that it is his dream.
He declares: ‘Today I am filled with joy. Searching for treasure with my long-lost son. My dream for each of you is that you find the happiness I feel today.’
They discover a shipwrecked boat which is split in half – which is similar to that of the wreck of the Titanic.
Homer and Fairbanks then pick up two treasure boxes, before Homer sends a message to his friends at home in the bar.
He says: ‘Hey guys. We found the treasure. When I get to shore, I’m bringing it right to the bar.’
The cartoon character then manages to get himself stuck, panicking as the oxygen-low light then flashes up on the screen
But in what many are saying is a chilling warning, he realizes that Fairbanks is missing
Fans of the show claim it also predicted the resignation of embattled British prime minister Liz Truss

In both cases, the power plants were blamed for dumping toxic waste into the waters, thus affecting the wildlife.

9: CENSORING MICHELANGELO’S DAVID
PREDICTED IN: Itchy & Scratchy & Marge – 1990
CAME TRUE IN: Saint Petersburg, Russia – 2016
Marge became outraged by the violence in Bart and Lisa’s favourite cartoon, The Itchy & Scratchy Show – and penned a letter of concern to the broadcasting network. This escalated into a full-blown protest which saw the cat and mouse cartoon toned down; instead of blowing each other up, they were seen sharing lemonade in harmony.
When the famous sculpture Michelangelo’s David was then due to stop on a tour in Springfield, Marge refused to join in with a local protest led by the likes of pious Maud Flanders, who claimed the statue was gratuitous. She was then accused of being a hypocrite.
The precise same scenario cropped up in Russia 26 years later [minus the Itchy & Scratchy part], when residents of Saint Petersburg protested a replica of the naked sculpture which was due to be erected in the city.

CAME TRUE IN: Globally – 2020
When Homer, Barney, Lenny, and Carl drunkenly vandalize Springfield Elementary School, it is blamed on the children of Springfield, prompting Chief Wiggum to impose a curfew.
Kent Brockman is forced to present the news from home.
In a strikingly similar situation, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy had to present from home in the UK as he went into self-isolation.
The country also implemented a strict curfew shortly after this, where restaurants and bars were re-opened but had to close by 10PM every night.

Tourist submersible exploring Titanic wreckage disappears in Atlantic Ocean
What we know
A submersible on a pricey tourist expedition to the Titanic shipwreck in the Atlantic Ocean has vanished with likely only four days’ worth of oxygen. The US Coast Guard said the small submarine began its journey underwater with five passengers Sunday morning, and the Canadian research vessel that it was working with lost contact with the crew about an hour and 45 minutes into the dive.
It was later found that a top-secret team with the US Navy detected the implosion of the Titan submersible on Sunday, but did not stop search efforts due because the evidence was “not definitive” and a decision was made to “make every effort to save the lives on board.”
Who was on board?
The family of world explorer Hamish Harding confirmed on Facebook ( that he was among the five traveling in the missing submarine. Harding, a British businessman who previously paid for a space ride aboard the Blue Origin rocket last year, shared a photo of himself on Sunday signing a banner for OceanGate’s latest voyage to the shipwreck.
Also onboard were Pakistani energy and tech mogul Shanzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman, 19; famed French diver and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and OceanGate founder and CEO Stockton Rush.
What’s next?
“We’re doing everything we can do to locate the submersible and rescue those on board,” Rear Adm. John Mauger told reporters. “In terms of the hours, we understood that was 96 hours of emergency capability from the operator.
Coast Guard officials said they are currently focusing all their efforts on locating the sub first before deploying any vessel capable of reaching as far below as 12,500 feet where the Titanic wreck is located.
Mauger, first district commander and leader of the search-and-rescue mission, said the US was coordinating with Canada on the operation.
The debris recovered from the US Coast Guard’s Titan submersible search site early Thursday included “a landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible.”
After search efforts to recover the stranded passengers proved futile, and bits of debris from the submersible were found, it was decided that the sub imploded, which correlated with an anomaly picked up by the US Navy in the same area.
The Coast Guard later reported that all 5 passengers were confirmed dead, and rescue efforts were halted.
