Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the former BJP Yuva Morcha District President Atul Mohan Dwivedi for demanding Rs 1 lakh extortion money from the mining manager. The police had registered an FIR against five people on the complaint of the lease manager in the Girwan area of the Banda district in Uttar Pradesh.
So far three people have been also arrested in this case.
Overall, the actual matter is directly related to the mining activity in the area. According to the media reports, stone mining and crushing are allowed based on fixed standards in some hilly areas of Girwan area of the Banda district, in one such area there is the Bhuteshwar temple also situated on the hilltop.
Local people have been protesting against the mining work around the temple for the last few days. Residents believe that the existence of the ancient temple is in danger due to uncontrolled mining in the hilly area, so the mining work should be stopped with immediate effect.
BJP MLA Prakash Dwivedi has also written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging him to stop mining around the temple. Arrested former District President of BJP Yuva Morcha Atul Mohan Dwivedi was also demanding the same.
