Jahangir Khan, a well-known figure in West Bengal politics, has finally been apprehended by the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF). The arrest of Jahangir Khan, a former MLA from the Falta assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district and a TMC leader, is being considered a major success for security agencies.
According to sources, more than seven criminal cases related to extortion, threats, political violence, and law and order were registered against him at the Falta police station. Since these cases, he has been on the run, and police have been conducting raids in various locations in search of him.
During the recent assembly elections in West Bengal, a video of Jahangir Khan went viral. In it, he claimed victory in the Falta seat and, in a filmy style, declared that Pushpa would not bow down. Following this, people began calling Jahangir Khan “Falta ka Pushpa.” It is alleged that he maintained an atmosphere of terror in the area through his network and targeted political opponents.
The Special Task Force (STF) received information that Khan was attempting to flee to Nepal to avoid arrest. Acting on this information, he was arrested near the Nepal border. Investigating agencies are now investigating who protected him during his escape and where he was hiding.
Police officials say that questioning Jahangir Khan could lead to important revelations in several cases related to political violence and organized crime. His arrest has also sparked a stir in political and administrative circles in South 24 Parganas.
