Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Deepak refuted the BJP’s claim that his followers are Pakistani. He also presented audience data, which showed that over 94% of users are Indian. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar had alleged that Pakistan had a significant role in the Cockroach Janata Party’s growing popularity. Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar called it a “cross-border influence operation.” Cockroach Janata Party gained immense popularity online due to its discussion on unemployment and policy issues. This campaign, popular among young users, has now become the center of political controversy.
Cockroach Janata Party has quickly emerged as the country’s new online sensation. The campaign attracted attention through memes and comments related to unemployment, education policy, and alleged exam paper leaks. However, amid the CJP’s growing popularity, the ruling BJP at the center has raised questions. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote a scathing post on X, targeting the Cockroach Janata Party. He said, “I pity those who find their followers on social media from Pakistan and the George Soros gang.”
BJP leader and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar also alleged that the CJP platform has excessive Pakistani connections. He claimed that 49 percent of the “Cockroach Janata Party”‘s followers on social media are from Pakistan, while only 9 percent are from India. Refuting the BJP’s allegations, Abhijeet Deepak shared a screenshot of audience analytics on X and responded to the allegations. He said, “This is a screen recording of our audience demographics, which we shared with the media before our account was hacked.”
Abhijit Deepak claimed that when the majority of the CJP’s audience is Indian, why is Union Minister Kiren Rijiju calling Indian youth Pakistani? The Cockroach Janata Party founder also alleged that the campaign has been facing a concerted crackdown on multiple social media platforms due to the way his campaign has been gaining attention and drawing questions from the BJP.
Earlier, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, in a strongly worded post, targeted the Cockroach Janata Party, writing, “I pity those who seek their social media followers from Pakistan and the George Soros gang.” Meanwhile, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrashekhar alleged that the CJP is part of a classic cross-border influence operation aimed at destabilizing India and targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
Rajiv Chandrashekhar wrote in an X-post, “In this era of social media, bots, AI, and their weaponized use, ‘influence operations’ are a dangerous and effective way to destabilize a country by creating fake and seemingly real narratives.” He further alleged that some sections of the opposition are fueling this campaign, and claimed that India’s rise under PM Modi’s leadership has angered foreign vested interests.
Rajiv Chandrashekhar said, “I have always maintained that India’s rise and modernization under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership will cause problems for many countries, and many obstacles will be placed in our path to continued progress.” Chandrashekhar also defended the Modi government’s performance during the global crisis. He said that no cockroach, no opposition leader, no anti-Modi clown, or no foreign vested interest can stop India’s resolve to become a ‘developed India.'”
