In June 2020, Disha Salian committed suicide. Subsequently, her fiancé, Rohan Rai, was accused. Two years later, Rohan gave an interview to a media house to create a false narrative, describing what happened that night, what Disha Salian was worried about, and who he was dating.
At that time, several celebrities like Rohan Rai and Aditya Thackeray, who have been accused in the current CBI FIR by Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, of the rape and murder of Disha Salian, colluded with senior Mumbai Police officials, including Paramvir Singh, and the then-Uddhav Thackeray government to have the case labeled as a suicide.
Following this, Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, and his lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, began advocating for justice for Disha, alleging that the police had botched the case. Following this, the Bombay High Court transferred the case from the Mumbai Police to the CBI on September 2, 2026.
Although the CBI has not yet questioned any of the accused since registering an FIR in this case, nor has it taken anyone into custody for questioning. Nilesh Ojha has submitted numerous evidence to the CBI that has caused sleepless nights for accused like Rohan Rai, Aditya Thackeray, and Paramveer Singh. They are now resorting to new tactics to protect themselves. In this context, they have now had the same media house re-upload an old interview given by Rohan Rai in 2022 on YouTube, in an attempt to create a narrative to protect themselves, misleading or manipulating the CBI’s investigation.
Nilesh Ojha, the lawyer representing Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, has handed over a pen drive to the CBI, providing evidence that could debunk their fake narrative. However, these people have already begun their plot. Let’s learn about Rohan Rai’s interview in 2022, which spread the fake narrative.
No one knew Rohan’s whereabouts for two years after Disha Salian’s death in 2020. When asked about this, Rohan Rai said, “I was in Mumbai while the police investigation was ongoing. After that, I went to my father’s hometown, Gandhidham, with Disha’s parents in December 2020. I returned to Mumbai three months later. We wanted to stay away from the noise surrounding her death. People were writing anything about Disha without thinking and showing anything on TV. They had no idea what impact this would have on Disha and my family.” How will this affect me?
A year after Disha Salian’s death, the Mumbai Police closed the case, calling it a suicide. But Rohan explains what happened that night: “Disha was a very sensitive person. She was stressed about work at the time. Two of her deals had also failed. She loved animals. And I remember that the news of a pregnant elephant in Kerala dying on May 27th after eating a pineapple filled with firecrackers made her condition worse. It was difficult to calm her down. We were both living with our families in Dadar. On June 4th, I suggested we move to our apartment in Malad, hoping it would change her mood. We were planning to move there after our wedding. Four of our friends also came to cheer her up. We drank for two or three days. Disha spiked her drink because it would have made her condition worse.”
Rohan further explained that Disha’s last call was from her school friend in London. It all happened in five minutes. I took Disha’s phone and spoke to that friend. Disha then went to the master bedroom. A few minutes later, I knocked on the door, but she didn’t answer. The room wasn’t locked. When I opened the door, I saw alcohol spilled all over the bed. I thought she might be changing her clothes and would return later.
Rohan Rai further explained that after some time, when Disha didn’t return, a friend and I knocked on the door again, but there was no response. Then I went to the bathroom. She wasn’t there either. We searched the entire flat but couldn’t find her. We went back to the master bedroom, checked the wardrobe, etc. During this time, we began to get worried. Then I noticed that the window was open. I looked down and saw her pajamas on the floor. I immediately called my friend and asked, “What is this?” I was unconvinced. I even slapped myself several times. It was like a nightmare.
Then I stood on the parapet, thinking I might jump. My friends pulled me back. The police arrived quickly. They asked me to remove my clothes to check for any signs of a fight and even searched the house. Some of our friends took Disha to the hospital. The first two hospitals refused admission, but the third hospital admitted her and later declared her dead.
Two years have passed since the incident, but when asked if he has recovered from the grief, Rohan says, “I started having frequent anxiety attacks. Disha and I were together for about seven years. We lived at her parents’ house in Dadar.”
We were in a relationship. Roka was also in 2018. After her passing, it became difficult for me to sleep. But even waking up was difficult because everything felt like a nightmare. People started telling me that I should pursue a different career, because so much was being said on social media. Then a friend reminded me that the dream of becoming an actor wasn’t just mine; Disha also wanted to see him. It was difficult for me to believe that she was no longer there. Even after a year, I couldn’t talk about it. But now I realize that I have to accept it.
Regarding how he overcame the harsh treatment he faced from mainstream media and social media, Rohan says, “It was terrifying. I received thousands of obscene and threatening messages. I was even abused. My friends were also sent messages that made them cry. I felt completely helpless.” I deactivated all my social media handles in September 2020. I returned to them all in May 2021. After that, Sooraj Pancholi’s name also started circulating. It was rumored that Disha was pregnant with his child. Photos of the actor also went viral, showing him surrounded by several women. People started claiming that one of them was Disha, which wasn’t true. This was happening while we were paying tribute to Disha. Despite not being at fault, I suffered a lot.
Rohan explained that Disha worked for an agency. One of its clients was Sushant Singh Rajput. He never managed the actor as a director, but he did work on two of his ad films. Disha had many of her own clients at the agency, with whom she dealt. Rohan explained how all this affected his career. According to him, he previously worked on 40 commercials a year. In the last two years, he has only done 12 commercials and one film. He also lost several OTT projects. He was even fired from a film, which left him devastated and he cried a lot.
Rohan explained that all the producers told him that if he got into any legal trouble, he would have to give a written undertaking. After that, he took a year off from acting, worked on himself, did some campaigns, and started scriptwriting. Additionally, he started working with Disha’s mother at the Animal Welfare Trust. Rohan explained that he is living with Disha’s parents and taking care of them. He is currently living in the Malad flat where he was supposed to live with Disha. He moves to Dadar to take care of Disha’s parents.
He revealed that he is now dating TV actress Sheen Das. They met in 2017-18 on the set of Piya Albela. They met again in October 2021, and that’s when they started talking. Sheen was also interested in animal welfare. When Rohan told Sheen about Disha’s dream project, she expressed her desire to join. The two began working together. Their friendship continued to grow, and now they share a close and warm bond.
