Affected Indians are being provided assistance. The Prime Minister stated that he has spoken to the heads of state in West Asia. Control rooms have been established and are operational 24 hours a day. Nearly 1,000 Indians have returned home from Iran.
Prime Minister Modi stated that attacking merchant ships and blocking vital sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz is completely wrong. He said that such problems can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

This region is also a vital route for our trade with other countries, especially for the supply of crude oil and gas. He added that another major reason is that approximately 10 million Indians live and work in the Gulf countries, and a large number of Indian ship crew members also work there. For all these reasons, India’s concern regarding this entire issue is naturally high.

PM Modi stated that he has spoken to the leaders of several West Asian countries over the phone. All of them have assured the safety of Indians living there. However, some people have lost their lives and been injured during this period.
Prime Minister Modi said that we must remain prepared and united for any eventuality. He reminded us that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced such a significant challenge together.
