Google Maps is incredibly useful these days. From navigating a new route to finding a gas station, Google Maps handles many tasks for you. Most people use Google Maps to find directions or the shortest route. However, sometimes Google Maps sends you on a longer or busier route instead of the fastest one. If this happens to you, just one setting can solve this problem.
There’s a good reason why Google Maps shows you the longest route. This is due to the Fuel-Efficient Routes feature in Google Maps. The purpose of this feature is to ensure your vehicle uses less fuel. Therefore, it’s often observed that if there’s not much difference between two routes, Google will show you the route that will consume less fuel.
For your information, whenever you enter the address of a place, Google Maps suggests several routes. You then choose the easiest route you think is easiest.
However, several other routes are also displayed on the screen, which you can choose yourself if you wish. However, most people simply follow the route Google suggests without even considering other options. However, the route suggested by Google isn’t always the shortest or fastest.
Now, if you always want to reach your destination in the shortest time, you can disable this setting in Google Maps. To do this, go to Google Maps. Then, go to Settings and open the Navigation option. Now, scroll down and turn off Prefer Fuel-Efficient Routes. After this, Google Maps will only show you the fastest routes.
If you don’t want to disable this setting, you can still have Google automatically select the shortest or easiest route for you. It’s worth noting that routes on Google Maps that display a green leaf icon are fuel-efficient routes.
You can then explore both routes to see which one is best for you and choose it. Google Maps offers many features, but how you use them depends on you.
