A poster war has already begun before the announcement of the dates for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is calling the posters, which appear along the streets of the capital Lucknow, claiming Congress will win over 200 seats, a BJP conspiracy. Akhilesh Yadav has not only targeted the BJP but also warned municipal officials that he will hold them to account if his government comes to power.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on his social media platform, “The ‘alliance’ has caused the BJP pain; they are putting up ‘fake posters,’ so much so that they are afraid. Top municipal officials in Uttar Pradesh should be suspended because some people are openly putting up posters without paying any fees, yet no action is being taken. This is either due to corruption or government pressure. When these anonymous posters are put up secretly, they also cause loss to local revenue, as they are put up without any fee.” If the fee had been officially paid, a receipt would have been issued. In this case, the conspirators would have been identified and caught. The officials concerned should be made to compensate for this revenue loss, and they should be investigated and suspended.

Akhilesh Yadav further wrote that we are keeping a daily record of all such incidents and are also recording which official was responsible for them at the time. A PDA government is coming to power in Uttar Pradesh. It will expose the entire misdeeds of these corrupt officials. By activating all agencies, from the ED, CBI, and the EOW, these corrupt officials will be held accountable.

Indeed, a formal alliance between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has not yet been announced. New statements are emerging daily regarding seat sharing between the two parties. Meanwhile, a large poster put up in Lucknow reads, “200 seats are our right, UP has faith in Rahul Gandhi.” The poster also has pictures of local Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi.
