DYFI activists screen controversial documentary under police protection

Thiruvananthapuram: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists today screened the controversial BBC documentary in Kerala’s capital city under the protection of police forces. The screening was held at Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, BJP workers came up with strong protests while the documentary was being screened.  Police fired water cannons at the march more than six times. Many BJP workers were injured in the incident. A large police force has been deployed at the scene.

Yuva Morcha marched to the exhibition organized by Youth Congress at Manaviyam Veethi. District President R. The activists including Sajith were arrested and removed by the police. The Yuva Morcha had stated that they would block the screening of the documentary.

BJP state president K. Sarendran had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister in which he alleged that the exhibition was tantamount to abetting foreign moves to endanger the unity and integrity of India. He also sought urgent intervention from the Chief Minister.
