Following the attack on Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi inquired about his well-being. Banerjee thanked senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
In a post on the social media platform “X,” Banerjee wrote, “Rahul ji, thank you for your concern and continued support. We are united and resolute in our fight to protect India’s soul, preserve its democratic institutions, and uphold the values enshrined in our Constitution.”
“I stand as a victim of state-sponsored terrorism.”
“Last year, I traveled to five countries representing India as part of an all-party delegation for ‘Operation Sindoor.’ I defended my country and stood united against terrorism. Today, I stand as a victim of political violence and state-sponsored terrorism. This terrorism is perpetrated by those who claim to be the defenders of nationalism.”
“This is the reality of today’s BJP,” he wrote. If you support them, you are a patriot. If you question them, you become a target. If you stand with them, you are praised. If you stand against them, they try to silence you.
Abhishek wrote that he would prefer to face threats while defending democracy rather than compromise his principles and live a comfortable life. Power is temporary, and the will of the people is permanent. I will only bow to the people, never to those in power.
He wrote that he will continue his fight against those who seek to undermine democracy and divide our nation. India stands united, and together we will ensure that the politics of fear, hatred, violence, and threats are defeated and the voice of the people prevails.
