While discussing the legislation introduced to prevent paper leaks in the monsoon session of Parliament, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the government. During the Lok Sabha debate on the Examination Amendment Bill, she criticized the government for the lathicharge on students protesting at Jantar Mantar on July 20th. She questioned the need for the lathicharge and tear gas. She also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making Instagram reels. Priyanka said the PM should change his heart, not his camera angle.
Priyanka Gandhi questioned who ordered the attack on the country’s youth. She questioned what was the need to use tear gas and batons on children. “They were children, they were not terrorists,” she said. She also questioned who gave the order to attack children with AK-47s and pellet guns.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “What was the need to use pellet guns and AK-47s on the youth of the country? Were they terrorists? Who gave the order to use pellet guns? Did the Prime Minister give it? Did the Home Minister give it? They should answer. The entire country is asking. It’s not just the Congress party. The entire country is demanding answers.”
152 papers leaked in ten years
Priyanka further said, “This government has consistently weakened all employment-generating sectors. The examination system itself has failed. 152 papers have been leaked in the last ten years. Crores of students have been affected, yet not a single culprit, not a single member of the paper leak mafia, has been punished.”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “They (the government) have hollowed out our education system by filling it with RSS propagandists. They have made matters even more difficult by forcibly creating the NTA and centralizing the system.” The share of the education budget in the country’s total budget is actually decreasing instead of increasing year after year…”
Priyanka told the Prime Minister, “Due to your rule, the young generation has been gravely wronged. Accept this truth. Shirking your responsibility will not work. Respected Prime Minister, you will have to take responsibility. You will have to take concrete steps.” PM Modi has increased his interaction with the new generation on Instagram after the student protests. He has created Reels. Taking a dig at this, Priyanka said that the PM needs to change the angle of his heart, not the camera.
