A hearing was held in the Allahabad High Court regarding the claim of there being a temple in the Taj Mahal. After this, the court directed the Central Government and the Archaeological Survey of India to file counter affidavits. It is noteworthy that in this petition, a demand has been made to declare ‘Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheshwar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya’ temple in the Taj Mahal complex.
A hearing was held in Allahabad High Court on Monday regarding the claim of there being a temple in Taj Mahal. The court has directed the Central Government and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to file their counter affidavit on a writ petition filed in this case.
This petition was filed on July 3 on behalf of 5 people including Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheshwar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya Temple, Senior Advocate Hari Shankar Jain.
During the hearing, Hari Shankar Jain argued before the court that an application was made in the lower court for photography of the disputed premises and for appointing an advocate commissioner. But the trial court wrongly rejected his application. After this, his review petition was also rejected considering it not worthy of hearing.
Hari Shankar Jain told the court that for the proper settlement of this entire dispute, it is very important to conduct survey and photography of the premises.
After hearing the arguments of Hari Shankar Jain, the single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal asked the Central Government and ASI to present their stand in this matter. Along with this, the court has also issued notice to respondent number 4 Pankaj Kumar Verma in this writ petition.
In fact, the Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Additional District Judge of the Agra District Court had refused to order the formation of an Advocate Commission to survey the Taj Mahal complex. This petition has been filed against those orders only.
A case was filed in 2015 regarding the Taj Mahal, which is still pending in the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division), Agra. In this case, it has been demanded to declare that the temple of Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheshwar Virajman Tejo Mahalaya exists in the premises of Taj Mahal. During the pendency of this case, an application was made to appoint Advocate Commissioner, which was rejected by both the district courts. Now this decision of the district courts has been challenged in the High Court.
