Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Anurag Thakur has targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He accused Rahul Gandhi of weakening the country’s institutions by questioning the Election Commission and the judicial system. Thakur said that Rahul Gandhi should present evidence to support his claims instead of merely making allegations.
Anurag Thakur, reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statements, said that the Supreme Court should not be made a platform for political controversies. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is constantly questioning the Election Commission but is not providing concrete evidence to support his allegations. Thakur said that Rahul Gandhi should respect the law and constitutional institutions. He also alleged that the Congress considers itself above the rules.
The BJP leader targeted the Congress party, citing the party’s long-standing political history. He alleged that the Congress party has questioned the election process in the past and is now demanding ballot papers. Referring to the 1989 elections, Thakur also raised the issue of the contest between Rajiv Gandhi and Rajmohan Gandhi. He accused the Congress party of booth capturing. However, these allegations are part of his political rhetoric and should not be considered independently proven facts.
Anurag Thakur said that in a democracy, the opposition has the right to ask questions, but it is also necessary to provide evidence for the allegations made. He appealed to Rahul Gandhi to stop the politics of accusations and present his views based on facts. Referring to the Emergency, he said that constitutional institutions played a role in protecting democracy during that period. Thakur also accused the Congress party of adopting double standards regarding the Constitution and democracy.
