Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, held a press conference regarding the SIR controversy involving Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission. During the conference, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the government and the Election Commission.
Rahul Gandhi stated that the Constitution and the fundamental structure of democracy are under attack in the country. Votes were stolen in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi said that in India, there is an anti-incumbency wave against every government. Even a legendary leader like Indira Gandhi lost elections after winning the Bangladesh War. So why doesn’t this anti-incumbency work against the BJP?
He alleged that when MPs gain entry to Parliament by stealing votes, all the laws they enact become illegal. This is not just an attack on votes, but an attack on the fundamental right of citizens to choose their leaders.
Rahul Gandhi stated that Gyanesh Kumar was chosen by PM Modi and Amit Shah. Now two Election Commissioners of the Commission itself are saying that Gyanesh Kumar is responsible for damaging the voting system.
