On the very first day of Parliament’s monsoon session, the political temperature rose over the NEET paper leak controversy. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the central government outside the Parliament complex. She alleged that the government is avoiding discussion on serious education issues while using force against students demanding their rights. She said, “They are our children. Why are they being tear gassed and lathi-charged?”
Priyanka Gandhi said that the opposition has been continuously demanding a discussion in Parliament on serious issues like education policy and the NEET-UG paper leak, but instead of holding a debate, the government is taking strict action against the protesting students. She alleged that instead of answering questions related to the education system, efforts are being made to suppress the voices of the students.
The opposition created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and the alleged misappropriation of funds in the Ayodhya Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Due to continuous sloganeering and demands for discussion, the proceedings of both the Houses were repeatedly disrupted and finally adjourned for the entire day. Now the proceedings of the Parliament will resume on Tuesday at 11 am. The Monsoon Session will continue till August 13.
Meanwhile, in the national capital, workers of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) tried to march towards the Parliament demanding accountability in the NEET-UG paper leak case. Police resorted to lathi charge to stop the protesters near Parliament Street. A sub-inspector of Delhi Police claimed that the protesters pelted stones at the barricades, injuring some policemen. Tensions between the police and protesters were seen throughout the day in Delhi.
