On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the vision of ‘Seven Streams of Power’ to the country from the ramparts of the Red Fort. He said that the country needs new energy and new direction to build a developed India. Highlighting the seven major strengths of India, the Prime Minister said that India will have to get a new identity at the global level by increasing its capabilities in these areas.

Prime Minister Modi said that the first power in the ‘seven streams of power’ is manufacturing power. India will have to prepare the entire value chain from design to production. He said that India will have to become a reliable global supply chain partner for the world by meeting the global standards of cost, quality and production capacity.

The second strength of Saptadhara is agriculture and food production. The Prime Minister said that global markets are opening up for India and access to new markets is increasing through free trade agreements. Indian spices and coarse grains i.e. millets should be recognized as Indian brands in the world.

The Prime Minister described technology and innovation as the third power of Saptadhara. He said that this is the era of robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, space and data centers. India will have to move towards becoming a global innovation hub in emerging technologies.

He said that India has demonstrated its technological capability through UPI and digital public infrastructure. Now the country needs to take the next leap in next generation communication technology.

The fourth power of Saptadhara is speed power. Emphasizing on fast and uninterrupted connectivity, Prime Minister Modi said that cities will have to be connected by high-speed rail. Along with this, special attention also needs to be paid to port-led development, so that the economic activities of the country can get more momentum.

The Prime Minister described the fifth power as defense power. He said that it is now necessary for India to be self-reliant in the defense sector. India cannot just remain a market for the world, but it will have to move towards becoming a global supplier in the defense sector.

He said that by developing next generation defense technology, India should try to achieve leadership in cutting-edge areas including hypersonic defense technology.

The sixth power of Saptadhara is Green and Blue Economy. The Prime Minister said that India will have to work towards achieving global leadership in the fields of green hydrogen, renewable energy and energy storage. He described fisheries, coastal tourism and marine technology as areas with great potential in the Blue Economy. According to the Prime Minister, these areas can open new avenues of development for India.

The seventh and important power of Saptadhara is the soft power of India. Giving the example of Yoga, Prime Minister Modi said that Yoga has played an important role in connecting the whole world with India. He said that Yoga is becoming a major medium of energy for the world and a medium of confidence for India.

The Prime Minister said that India’s potential was earlier known and understood as ‘Saptasindhu’. Now to build a developed India, the country will have to move forward with the ‘Seven Streams of Power’. We will have to resolve to take India to new heights at the global level by strengthening manufacturing, agriculture, technology, mobility, defence, green-blue economy and soft power.
