Big news related to Nandigram assembly by-election of West Bengal has come out. Sanchita Pradhan Dey, who was made a candidate by Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress Party, has decided to withdraw her name from the electoral field. Before withdrawing her name, Sanchita Pradhan Dey met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
This development has intensified the political stir regarding the Nandigram by-election. TMC had announced Sanchita Pradhan Dey as its candidate for the Nandigram by-election on September 13. Along with her, the party had also made Rabiul Alam Chaudhary its candidate from Rezinagar. The by-election in Nandigram is to be held on October 6 and the counting of votes is proposed on October 9.
Sanchita Pradhan Dey has been associated with the Boyal area of Nandigram. She has also been a teacher and was a member of the Panchayat Samiti from 2018 to 2023. According to reports, her job was also affected when about 26 thousand appointments were canceled in the teacher recruitment case, which was later restored after the order of the Supreme Court. She has been associated with the Trinamool Congress for a long time.
The Nandigram seat was vacant after the 2026 assembly elections. Suvendu Adhikari had won the elections from both Nandigram and Bhawanipur seats, but later he left the Nandigram assembly seat while retaining the Bhawanipur seat. For this reason there was a need for by-election here.
Before the Nandigram by-election, a big decision of the Election Commission regarding both the factions of Trinamool Congress has also come out. The Election Commission has allotted the name ‘Mamata All India Trinamool Congress’ and ‘football player’ election symbol to the Mamata Banerjee-led faction. The faction led by Arup Rai has been given the name ‘TrinDemocraticamool Congress’ and the election symbol ‘Envelope’. Both the factions have been recognized as recognized political parties in West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura.
Regarding this, Mamata Banerjee said that we do not disrespect the constitutional post, but we feel that today is a dark day in our democratic history. What is happening in our country is very unfortunate, unconstitutional, illegal, undemocratic and a completely partisan vindictive action taken to satisfy the ego of a political party. He had already said that he will not let even his name or trace remain. who are these people? Today they are in power, tomorrow they may not be there. They should understand their limits.
Talking about vote theft, Mamata Banerjee said that it is very sad. They looted Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Bengal. This ‘false BJP party’, is a ‘Jumla party’. Its work is to destroy democracy, constitution and education system in the country. Even journalists are not spared. If anyone speaks against them, they are arrested. Before us, Uddhav Thackeray also had to face a similar situation. I do not respect any person who is only engaged in satisfying the ego of BJP.
