Date:

Kamal Haasan, president of Makkal Needhi Maiam, announced on Sunday that he will attend the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi on December 24.

During his address to the party’s office bearers, Haasan said Rahul Gandhi had invited him to join the Yatra. It was reported to PTI that MNM workers, led by their leader Haasan, would take part in a Gandhi-led foot march in the national capital. “Our leader informed our office bearers,” he said.

Film celebrities such as Pooja Bhatt, Swara Bhasker, and Amol Palekar have participated in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

The march has been attended by celebrities from the film industry, writers, and military veterans, including former Navy chief admiral L Ramdas and former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan. On Sunday, the MNM executive and administrative committee and district secretaries met here under the chairmanship of 68-year-old Haasan.

According to a party press release, in the meeting, Haasan informed them of some ‘key decisions’ and advised them about the party’s strategy and activities for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
