Until now, you’ve asked AI questions, and it would respond. But imagine if AI could read emails for you, retrieve important information, schedule meetings, and even prepare reports? AI agents can do the same. You can think of them as your digital assistant, not just providing advice but also performing various tasks on your own with your permission.
For example, you ask a standard AI which train is best for traveling from Delhi to Jaipur. It will provide you with information. However, an AI agent can search for trains, check schedules and fares, and even process ticket bookings. However, booking and paying for tickets may require access to the relevant service and your approval.
There are several models for creating AI agents, but most require a paid or business subscription.
You can create AI agents without any coding knowledge using ChatGPT, Google Workspace Studio, Copilot, or Cloud.
1. ChatGPT (chatgpt.com/gpts)
Upon opening the website, click on GPTs or Explore GPTs on the left. Then select Create. Enter a name for your AI assistant, such as Office Buddy, and specify the task the agent should perform in its instructions. If necessary, add some documents and features. Test the agent by asking questions in Preview, and if everything is correct, click Save or Create. Creating an agent from here is ideal for writing news, researching, and understanding documents.
2. Google Workspace Studio (studio.workspace.google.com)
After logging in with your account, you’ll find Workspace Studio at the bottom of the home page. Click on it and you’ll see the Describe a task for Gemini option. Simply describe the task you want to create, then click Create. Gemini will then create an AI agent according to your instructions. Once the agent is created, run Test Run and, if correct, click Turn On. It’s perfect for automating email, Google Sheets, and other daily tasks.
3. Copilot (copilotstudio.microsoft.com)
After visiting the website, click on Agents on the left. Select the New Agent option. Enter a name for your agent, then write a detailed, simple description of the tasks you want to perform in the Instructions. Click Save to create the agent. If needed, you can add features like Documents in Knowledge, and Email, Docs, and Drive in Tools. Then, test the agent using the Test option. If correct, click Publish and complete the necessary settings. This is ideal for office, team, and customer service tasks.
4. Cloud (claude.ai)
After opening the website, select Projects on the left and click New Project. First, give your agent a name. Then, specify the tasks the agent needs to perform in the Project Instructions. You can grant it permissions to email, Drive, the cloud, apps, or other locations. Open a new chat in a project and assign it a task. If it doesn’t, change the instructions and save if it’s correct. If the instructions are correct, it’s excellent for multitasking. Cloud Cowork also has a default agent, allowing you to assign multi-step tasks, connect files and other apps, and even give instructions to complete tasks by a set time.
While agents can be created in this way, it’s important to be mindful of the potential for AI agents to provide incorrect information or misunderstand instructions. Therefore, retain final approval for tasks like banking, payments, sharing personal information, and sending important documents. Grant agents only the necessary permissions for the task at hand.
