A salary of 65,000 rupees and expenses of lakhs in America! How did Abhijeet Dipke’s father fund his son’s education? Demand for investigation raised.
New revelations are emerging about Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), who came to prominence after instigating violent protests in Delhi over the NEET paper leak. Now, demands have been raised for an investigation into his father, Bhagwanrao Dipke’s financial situation. Amit Tiwari, an RTI activist from Surat, alleged that Bhagwanrao, a retired Maharashtra government employee, received a limited salary. How did he afford lakhs of rupees to educate his son abroad?
Amit Tiwari has sent a letter to the Maharashtra government, the Election Commission, and the Income Tax Department in this regard. He alleged that Abhijeet Dipke’s father’s income was around 65,000 rupees per month. Consequently, how did he afford the enormous expense of educating his son in America, when the cost of studying there can range from 30 lakh to 1 crore rupees? How was this study funded and who provided the money?
The RTI activist also demanded an investigation into the provision of a legal defense fund of ₹1 crore to the CJP by senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal. Tiwari asked whether the CJP could receive such funds while operating under the guise of a non-political party.
Tiwari stated that the Cockroach Janata Party is an unregistered organization and yet it is operating as a political party. Therefore, if it has been promised ₹1 crore as legal defense funds, the Election Commission should investigate whether the CJP is registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The complaint further stated that if the CJP is not a registered political party, how is it operating under the guise of a political party and in what capacity is it accepting funds from the public. These are all matters of investigation that should be investigated.
Amit Tiwari has also sent a letter to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), requesting an investigation into whether GST will be applicable to the legal defense fund provided by Sibal. If so, how much? Will the GST be deducted upfront or will the receiver submit it after the payment?
It is worth noting that Kapil Sibal has been a staunch critic of the Modi government. He does not miss any opportunity to protest against the Narendra Modi government. Recently, when cases were filed against rioters for pelting stones at policemen during the NEET protest, Kapil Sibal openly protested. He held a press conference with CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and announced a contribution of ₹1 crore to the legal defense fund established by the CJP to help the arrested protesters.
