Bubbles Under Tempered Glass: Fix Them Yourself Instead of Installing New Glass

If a bubble appears under the tempered glass on your phone or tablet, people often rush to the repair shop to get a new one. However, in many cases, you can remove the bubble yourself. Air gaps or bubbles under the tempered glass not only ruin the phone’s appearance but also impair touch response. If you know how, you can easily remove the bubble from the phone’s screen instead of spending money on new glass.

Before understanding how to remove bubbles between the screen and the tempered glass, it’s important to understand why these bubbles appear. There are two main reasons.

First, air gets trapped between the screen and the tempered glass. Sometimes, when installing tempered glass, air pockets form at the edges or in the center.
The second reason is that fine dust particles get trapped between the screen and the tempered glass. If any cloth fibers or finger grease remain on the screen while applying the tempered glass, the silicone adhesive of the glass may not adhere properly.

In simple terms, this weakens the adhesive on the tempered glass, making it less likely to stick to the phone’s screen.

If the bubbles under your tempered glass are simply caused by trapped air, they’re fairly easy to remove. In this case, wrap an ATM or plastic card in a microfiber cloth and push the bubble to the edge. Be sure to wrap the card with a cloth to avoid scratching the tempered glass.

If the bubble doesn’t come out this way, carefully lift the tempered glass slightly from one edge. Lift the tempered glass from the edge closest to the bubble. Once the air has a way to escape, release the glass back onto the screen.

Remember to lift the glass slowly, not abruptly, to avoid cracking it.

When fixing bubbles under the tempered glass, keep in mind that not every bubble will be perfect. In some cases, replacing the tempered glass is the only option.

If a dust particle is trapped under the tempered glass, or if the glue has weakened due to repeated lifting, it becomes impossible to fix the bubble.

Dust particles trapped under the tempered glass can be removed with tape, but this requires a lot of patience and caution, and there’s a chance it could damage the tempered glass.

If the bubble doesn’t come out after a couple of attempts, get a new tempered glass. Trying too many times could scratch your phone’s screen.

Never use a pin, needle, or any sharp metal to remove the bubble from under the tempered glass. This won’t remove the bubble but could damage your phone’s screen.

Do this with the fan off in the room so that dust particles floating in the air don’t stick to the glass.

Don’t apply excessive pressure to the phone’s display. This could damage it.
