A legal notice of ₹500 crore has been sent to him in connection with the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Disha’s father, Satish Salian, has demanded ₹500 crore in damages from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and NCP (SP) leader and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The notice alleges that the two leaders attempted to portray Satish Salian’s fight for justice as “politically motivated.” 28-year-old Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Police deemed the incident an accidental death and filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Actor Sushant Singh Rajput died six days later.
The ₹500 crore legal notice accuses Aditya Thackeray of questioning Satish Salian’s motives and describing his struggle for justice as “politically motivated, malicious, and done with the ulterior motive of damaging his reputation.”
The legal notice states that the above-mentioned allegations are false, baseless, irresponsible, and seriously defamatory. These allegations have been made without any credible evidence or basis, and solely for the purpose of fulfilling your ulterior and ulterior motives. These allegations directly and seriously question the integrity, credibility, and bona fides of my client (Satish Salian). They portray a grieving father as someone who is abusing the judicial process for false, malicious, and political purposes.
The notice also accuses Thackeray of falsely claiming that the CBI had completed its investigation into the Disha Salian case and given him a clean chit.
According to the notice, on March 23, 2025, Anil Deshmukh stated that the Disha Salian case was a “conspiracy to defame Aditya Thackeray.” This statement reportedly gained publicity and portrayed Satish Salian as a “dishonest, politically motivated, and malicious plaintiff.”
Satish Salian demanded an unconditional, clear, and complete written and public apology. This apology should be published and broadcast on all major print, TV, and digital media platforms. The video apology should be at least three minutes long and posted on the official social media accounts of both leaders.
Two days after being named in the CBI FIR, Aditya Thackeray on Wednesday denied any connection to Disha Salian. He wrote in a social media post, “I never met Disha Salian nor did I know her. For nearly six years, some people have been continuously linking my name to this tragic case with clear political and personal motives.” This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish my image without any evidence.
He did not name anyone in the post. However, he had previously accused the ruling BJP-led coalition of dragging him into the matter. Others named in the FIR have also denied any role.
Aditya Thackeray further said that the official investigation into the case should proceed without malicious attempts to tarnish the image and divert attention for political purposes.
Officials said the CBI registered an FIR on Monday under sections related to murder and criminal conspiracy. It names Aditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, and Rhea Chakraborty. It also includes the names of doctors and staff involved in the late-night post-mortem who are suspected.
