The government has made biometric Aadhaar authentication mandatory for domestic LPG cylinders. This is to ensure that the subsidy reaches the right families. To book a subsidized LPG refill, you must complete your biometric Aadhaar authentication before October 1st. Failure to do so will result in purchasing the cylinder at market value, i.e., without subsidy.
You can visit a nearby agency to complete this process, but if you prefer, you can easily do it from home on your phone.
You can easily complete authentication by installing your gas company’s app on your smartphone. Also, download the Aadhaar FaceRD app. This app will perform biometric facial authentication. After installing the gas company’s official app on your phone:
Log in to the app using the number linked to your LPG connection.
Now, go to the Profile section of the gas company’s app menu and click on the Authentication or KYC option.
The app will then open the camera. Place your face in the right light and blink.
Once verified, enter the OTP and submit the form. Your authentication will be complete.
After completing these steps, you can continue receiving subsidized cylinders.
If you don’t want to install the app for some reason, you can also complete the process in your browser. You can complete e-KYC or biometric authentication on your phone or laptop’s browser. To do this, you need to:
Go to the official portal mylpg.in or open the official website of your respective gas company.
Now, if you are on mylpg.in, click on your gas company’s name from the gas companies displayed on the right.
Then log in.
Now, go to the Biometric Authentication option in the Services section or dashboard.
You will then receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP, verify your details, and submit.
This will complete your authentication.
