Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray has broken his silence for the first time since the CBI filed an FIR in connection with Disha Salian’s death. He has denied the allegations against him. He also stated that he never met Disha Salian nor did he know her. Aditya’s statement comes days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR to investigate the 2020 death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The FIR was filed based on a complaint by Disha’s father, Satish Salian, who demanded an investigation into the role of several politicians and police officers, including Aditya Thackeray.
Aditya Thackeray issued a statement on social media, saying that for the past six years, some people have been continuously linking his name to this case. He said this is being done for political and personal reasons and is aimed at tarnishing his image. He said that allegations are being made against him without any evidence regarding this matter. Aditya Thackeray also referred to TV debates and media trials, saying that such discussions cannot change the truth.
He wrote, “Let’s put aside the nonsense and once again talk about the reality: I have never met Disha Salian, nor do I know her. For the past six years, some people have been continuously linking my name to this tragic case for clear political and personal reasons. This is a deliberate and baseless attempt to tarnish my image. It is very unfortunate that people with specific motives are continuously running a campaign to tarnish my image without any evidence or truth. Loud TV debates and media trials do not change the truth.” Let the official reinvestigation of this case proceed, without any ulterior motives or attempts to tarnish my image for political purposes. Once again, those who think that such malicious attempts and political exploitation will dissuade us from fighting for the truth and our fellow citizens will fail. We will always stand by the truth and continue to fight for it. Such attempts will not deter us.
Aditya Thackeray wrote in another post that to stop the rumors, I am telling only the truth! I never met Disha Salian, nor did I know her. For the past six years, some people have been deliberately trying to link my name to this tragic incident for political purposes, personal enmity, and character assassination, despite there being no evidence or connection. This continuous false propaganda, devoid of any facts or truth, is saddening. Media trials based on false discussions and empty claims on TV channels cannot change the truth. Let the government machinery conduct this investigation afresh—without any interference, without political interference, without character assassination, and impartially. I repeat, if you think you can silence us with this kind of character assassination and false propaganda, you are mistaken. Our fight for truth and against injustice will continue, and we will take our countrymen along with us!
Regarding the entire case, Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in the Malad area of Mumbai. Disha was 28 years old at the time. She worked as a celebrity manager and was also the manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput for some time. Just days after Disha’s death, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was also found dead in his Mumbai home. Due to the mere few days between the two incidents, many questions were raised about Disha’s death.
After Disha’s death, Mumbai Police initially registered it as an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Later, the police ruled it a suicide. The police also stated that the investigation found no evidence of criminal conspiracy or sexual assault. An SIT was formed to investigate the case.
However, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, was dissatisfied with the investigation. He questioned the circumstances of his daughter’s death and claimed that the case was not properly investigated. In his petition, he demanded a fresh investigation and the registration of an FIR. He alleged that attempts were made to suppress the case to protect some influential people.
