The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a major update regarding the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. This is good news for students who are re-examing after the cancellation of the exam in May. Now, for the exam to be held on June 21, 2026, they will have 15 minutes more time, increasing the exam time to 195 minutes. Furthermore, there will be more space for rough work on the paper than before.
According to the NTA, the NEET UG 2026 re-exam will now be from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, giving a total of 195 minutes (3 hours and 15 minutes). This additional 15 minutes includes pre-exam formalities such as signing the attendance sheet, biometric verification, and other security procedures.
According to the NTA, several changes have been made for the NEET UG 2026 exam. The NEET UG 2026 exam will now be held from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Its duration has been set at 195 minutes (3 hours 15 minutes), up from 3 hours previously. The additional time includes time for signing the attendance sheet, biometric verification, and other formalities. This will allow students to complete the paper without running out of time due to administrative work.
The NTA has also significantly improved the rough work facility this time. The question paper booklet will now include four rough work pages (previously two pages).
Two pages are provided immediately after the instructions page (at the beginning).
Two pages will be at the end of the booklet.
This change has been made specifically keeping in mind the convenience of left-handed candidates.
Students can now do rough work on any page as per their convenience.
This feature will be available in booklets in English and all regional languages.
Ahead of the NEET re-exam, the NTA believes that even small improvements in the exam design can improve the student experience. These changes have been made with the aim of making the exam more student-friendly while maintaining fairness and security standards.
The agency has advised all NEET candidates to carefully read the instructions given in the admit card and information bulletin.
Cooperate fully with the staff in the examination hall.
Talk the paper by allocating time appropriately.
