US President Donald Trump has linked the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Washington to Iran. The suspected attacker’s Iranian connections have not been established, but Trump has stated that such attacks will not prevent him from going to war with Iran. However, Trump himself has admitted that the incident is unlikely to be linked to the US-Iran conflict.
Following the shooting, Donald Trump said, “This won’t stop me from winning a war in Iran. I don’t know if it has anything to do with that. Based on the information we have, I really don’t think so.” Investigators are currently working to determine the shooter’s motive.
When asked whether Iran could be involved in the incident, Donald Trump replied, “I don’t think so, but you can’t say anything about that.” Donald Trump said the incident unfolded very quickly, leaving him and his companions with little time to react.
Donald Trump said it’s always shocking when something like this happens. “I was completely surprised by what happened. I was watching what was happening. When security personnel became active, I realized what had happened. Initially, we thought the gunshots were less serious. I thought a tray had fallen, but things quickly became clear.”
Donald Trump said the attacker was subdued before he could reach the main event venue. He was unable to enter the area at all and was stopped at a considerable distance. Trump said they weren’t ready to leave the venue. “I tried my best to stop them,” he said.
Trump said he wanted to stay there and convince the people that they wouldn’t let these sick people (the attackers) change the way we live and work. The decision to evacuate the venue wasn’t personal, but a security protocol. Trump said, “I know many people are not happy with you, but despite the risks, we are committed to the agenda.” Donald Trump also said that those who wield the most influence, those with the greatest influence, are the ones who get targeted. He said that he would hold a press dinner again within the next 30 days and would not allow public events to be disrupted by violence.
