After Nitish Kumar’s departure from the post of Chief Minister in Bihar, politics in the state has taken a new turn. Despite this, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has once again come into the headlines. During an interview on a news channel, Janshakti Janata Dal president Tej Pratap Yadav made several remarks about both Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav. These remarks are comforting for the JDU and unnerving for the RJD.
When asked how many marks out of 10 he would give Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister, Tej Pratap Yadav said that Nitish should get 9. Tej Pratap Yadav further said, “Nitish Kumar has been an old friend of my father Lalu Prasad Yadav. He is like our uncle and is very senior in politics. If you talk about us, we are children in front of him.”
He was also asked whether Nitish Kumar became Chief Minister after ousting his mother, Rabri Devi, from the post. Tej Pratap Yadav gave a measured response to this. He said that ups and downs happen in politics, but family and personal relationships have their own place. During this conversation, Tej Pratap Yadav smiled and said, “Uncle (Nitish Kumar) always remained neutral during work. But I love the way he caresses his stomach.”
Ever since Tej Pratap Yadav formed his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal, he has been quick to criticize his father’s party, the RJD, and his brother, Tejashwi Yadav. However, he often speaks differently about the NDA, RJD’s arch rival. Upon Samrat Chaudhary’s appointment as Chief Minister, he expressed hope that he would complete the unfinished work of his uncle, Nitish Kumar, and provide employment to Bihar’s unemployed youth.
In the same conversation, Tej Pratap Yadav made a significant comment on the question about the RJD. He also made accusations against Tejashwi Yadav. Tej Pratap Yadav said that the RJD’s decline began as soon as he left. Tejashwi Yadav has completely disconnected from the public and is not engaging in any public relations. Consequently, the RJD’s situation has reached a point where it has only 25 MLAs, and any party could poach them at any time.
