Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath met PM Narendra Modi today. The meeting between the two leaders lasted for about 1.25 hours at 7 Lokkalyan Marg. Apart from this, elections are also going to be held on 11 seats of Legislative Council. According to the number of MLAs, BJP can send 8 Rajya Sabha MPs and has the power to win the same number of Legislative Council members. In such a situation, there is a discussion that perhaps there might have been brainstorming on the names of candidates in the meeting of PM Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath.
Of the 10 Rajya Sabha seats in UP for which elections are to be held, there are still 8 MPs from BJP. These MPs include Hardeep Singh Puri, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Arun Singh, Brijlal, BL Verma, Neeraj Shekhar, Seema Dwivedi and Geeta Shakya. It is believed that Hardeep Singh Puri is sure to get another chance. Apart from this, Dr. Dinesh Sharma has now been made the Governor, hence someone else will get a chance in his place. However, considering the policies and customs of BJP, no one’s name can be said as final. At present there is a discussion that Harish Dwivedi, who became General Secretary, and Smriti Irani can be sent to Rajya Sabha from UP.
Apart from this, their activity can also be increased in the elections. This is because Smriti Irani is an eloquent leader and has been known for making sharp attacks on Rahul Gandhi. Nothing has been decided yet, but there is talk that new candidates can get a chance on about 4 out of 8 seats. Apart from this, it is possible that there may have been a discussion regarding the Legislative Council. This is because elections are to be held in UP after a few months, hence BJP would not want to lose the opportunity of sending 16 leaders to the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha. BJP would like these seats to be filled keeping in mind the caste, social and regional equations.
It is noteworthy that voting on Rajya Sabha seats of UP is to be held on October 16 and the result will be declared on the same day. Apart from this, voting on Legislative Council seats is to be held on October 23. Based on the number of MLAs, it is believed that BSP’s representation in the Upper House will be zero. Apart from this, BJP, which is considering victory on 8 seats certain, can field candidates on one more seat.
