Google Pay UPI Circle Pocket Money: Google Pay has introduced a feature that allows you to make payments without a bank account. The ‘Pocket Money’ feature has been added to Google Pay’s UPI Circle. This allows users to allow their family and friends to make UPI payments from their bank accounts. As an existing UPI user on Google Pay, you are the primary user, and you can add your family members, friends, or employees to the UPI Circle. They become secondary users of your UPI Circle. As secondary users, they can make payments using your bank account. However, you have complete control over the amount of payments you allow them to make.
This Google Pay feature is great for managing pocket money, supporting dependents, or assisting employees with payments. As the primary user, you can set transaction limits and approve payments. Simply put, this feature is very useful for those who don’t have a bank account and need to make UPI payments. For example, parents can add their children as secondary users to their UPI circle and set an amount for them as pocket money. Now, children will be able to make payments from their parents’ bank accounts within the specified number of times.
The primary user can control transactions in two ways: by setting a transaction limit and by authorizing payments. If you give the secondary user full authority, the account limit will automatically be set to ₹15,000 per month.
These are the things you need to know to set up secondary users:
To become a primary user, you must have a UPI account.
You can add a maximum of 5 secondary users.
To add a secondary user to your UPI circle, their number must be saved in your phone’s contacts list.
They must have the Google Pay app and their phone number registered with it.
They must have a UPI ID or UPI Circle QR.
