Pakistan denies airspace to Indian aircraft carrying NDRF team, medical aid to Turkey: Report

Date:

New Delhi: Pakistan again denied its airspace to India sending relief aid to earthquake-affected Turkey. Indian Airforce flight airborne from Hindon Airbase Ghaziabad then took a long route to fly towards Turkey through Irani airspace.

It is to be noted that India has to fly over Pakistani airspace to reach countries in the West, including Turkey, Ukraine, and European Nations. On February 6, 2023, Turkey and Syria were jolted by a 7.9-magnitude earthquake, one of the most devastating earthquakes in the history of West Asia.

According to a report, the Indian Air Force’s three C-17 aircraft bearing search and rescue teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had to take a detour after Pakistan denied permission to use its airspace.

This is Pakistan’s second attempt in recent months to prevent India from sending relief material to crisis-hit countries.

According to officials and agencies, according to the latest estimates, over 4,900 people have been killed and thousands injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria early Monday.

Turkey and Syria were hit by three consecutive devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.8, 7.6, and 6.0 on Monday.
