Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has targeted those advocating for “regime change.” He appealed to the people of India to never forgive traitors. This statement comes amid the political controversy surrounding senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s statement about changing the government. Kiren Rijiju wrote in a post on the social media platform “X,” “Dear patriotic Indians, remember, ‘Forgive your enemies once, your friends twice, but never the traitors.'”
Kiren Rijiju counters by sharing Prashant Bhushan’s video
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju made these comments while sharing a video of Prashant Bhushan, in which the senior lawyer openly acknowledged the demand for “regime change.” In a press conference, Prashant Bhushan had said, “Yes, we want regime change.” Earlier, Kiren Rijiju had also shared a video of Prashant Bhushan’s 2011 statement on Kashmir, in which he was heard saying that if the Kashmiri people want to secede, let them.
In another post, Kiren Rijiju sharply described this political battle and differentiated between those who support the Constitution and those who spread anarchy. Rijiju wrote in the previous post that the battle line has been drawn. It is the Naxal-minded versus the patriotic Indian. This entire issue has sparked a political debate about the meaning and impact of the demand for ‘regime change.’ Leaders of the ruling party have accused the opposition and the organizers of the protests of trying to destabilize the government.
