Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived in Chandigarh on Sunday, launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He questioned his leadership, political ambitions, and the party’s electoral prospects, setting the stage for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Addressing a gathering in Chandigarh, Shah took a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s “love shop” slogan and alleged that the Congress leader was spreading hatred instead of love.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s “mock parliament” exercise, Shah said that the Congress leader has devised a new political strategy to fulfill his ambition of becoming Prime Minister. Shah said that Rahul Gandhi wants to become Prime Minister, and that is why he has devised a new way of organizing a “mock parliament.” Rahul Gandhi, you can remain Prime Minister in your fake Parliament, but your dream of becoming the Prime Minister of the country will never be fulfilled.
Amit Shah, citing the Congress party’s poor performance in Delhi, predicted another electoral defeat for the party. He pointed out that the party had failed to open its account in the last three Delhi Assembly elections and claimed that the same fate would befall it in the next three. He said, “In the last three elections, the Congress has failed to win a single seat in Delhi. I believe it will fail to open its account in the next three elections as well.”
The Home Minister also referred to the appeal made by Delhi businessmen to the Congress party, urging them not to hold rallies during the festive season. This statement comes at a time when political activity is intensifying in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The BJP is trying to expand its political influence in the state. Shah has repeatedly stressed that the BJP will seek a mandate to form its own government, rather than remaining a junior partner in any coalition. Shah has made the drug problem a central issue in the BJP’s election campaign in Punjab. He has promised to make Punjab and the entire country drug-free by December 31, 2029.
With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) releasing its first list of 40 candidates, the political battle in Punjab has intensified. Shah’s statements indicate that the BJP is preparing to aggressively counter the Congress and AAP. The party will focus its election campaign on leadership, governance, the drug problem, and national politics.
