Prime Minister Narendra Modi has frequently surprised the nation with his decisions. Whether it’s appointing a BJP-ruled state as Chief Minister after winning elections, announcing the imposition of demonetization nationwide, or launching surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor against Pakistan following terrorist attacks by Pakistan-backed terrorists, PM Modi has consistently surprised not only the citizens of the country but also the rulers of Pakistan, the mastermind of the terrorists.
However, recently, he failed to achieve anything surprising, first by choosing a BJP-backed Chief Minister after Nitish Kumar in Bihar, and then by passing the Nari Shakti Vandan (Women’s Rights) Amendment Act in the Lok Sabha. Opposition political party leaders, especially Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, began vigorously spreading the message that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charisma had waned and that he could no longer take any such surprising steps.
When the ruling party convened a special session of the Lok Sabha and introduced the Nari Shakti Vandan (Amendment) Bill, it seemed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would once again surprise everyone by successfully passing it despite lacking a majority. However, this time, the opposition caught the magic of PM Modi, a magician known for his astonishing charisma. PM Modi resorted to pleading and threatening the opposition to pass the bill, but the opposition refused to listen to him, and the Nari Shakti Vandan (Amendment) Bill, introduced by the ruling party in the Lok Sabha, fell short of a majority.
Following this, during the election campaign in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition, accusing them of preventing women from entering Parliament. He didn’t stop there, but from there, he broadcast his message to the nation, accusing opposition leaders of preventing women from entering Parliament. But people didn’t find this surprising; rather, it suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was making a move to attract women to his party in the ongoing assembly elections.
However, in his address to the nation, he did make some surprising remarks. He stated that opposition leaders had attempted to prevent women from taking advantage of the 33% reservation in the general elections to be held in 2029. But he and his government were determined to grant women this right. Although this didn’t seem surprising to people at the time, the opposition was calling it a ploy by PM Modi to entice women to vote for him in the current assembly elections. But now that Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, have left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the BJP, people are increasingly surprised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks during his address to the nation.
With this surprising decision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently working to dismantle the Aam Aadmi Party and secure a majority in Parliament. The current situation in the Rajya Sabha is such that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could surprise the nation by aligning these members with the BJP. After the BJP’s highest number of 113 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress, with 29 MPs, is in second place. Even if Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot break away from the Congress’s 19-20 Rajya Sabha MPs, there are seven from the YSRCP, three from the BJD, three from the BSP, the remaining three from the Aam Aadmi Party, three from the RJD, and some independent and nominated members, two-thirds of whom PM Modi could easily align with his party.
If his move in the Rajya Sabha is successful, Prime Minister Narendra Modi could then use a similar tactic in the Lok Sabha, expanding his power not only by aligning MPs from smaller political parties but also by aligning MPs from larger political parties with the BJP, creating a major split within their parties. In this regard, he can surprise the leaders of opposition political parties by including them in his party, promising them that just as he made Himant Vishwa Sharma the Chief Minister in Assam and Samrat Chaudhary the Chief Minister in Bihar despite their joining the BJP from other political parties, he can do the same in the future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an expert in such surprising feats. In the past, he has performed a surprising feat by ousting the Congress from power in Madhya Pradesh and forming his own government after inducting Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia into his party. By inducting the Rajya Sabha MPs of Aam Aadmi Party along with Raghav Chadha into his party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surprised the ruling political parties as well as the leaders of the opposition political parties as well as the countrymen, and it is not surprising that before the general elections of 2029, by inducting the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs of various political parties into his party, he may once again surprise the country by introducing and passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act Amendment Act in the Parliament.
