Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah once again raised the Kashmir issue on Saturday. He said, “The Delhi government cannot help us. Look at our neighbor, he’s raising the Kashmir issue everywhere. He’s saving us, otherwise our government’s intentions are not right.”

Addressing activists in Baramulla, Farooq Abdullah said, “The central government makes big claims, but what can you expect from Delhi? Confront them. If you don’t, our identity will be erased.”

Farooq Abdullah made the following four important points:

You must stand on your own feet to gain respect: You will never gain respect until you stand on your own feet. Remember this. If you want to stand on your own feet, first remember your Lord and follow the path shown by Him.

You will survive only if you unite: Many people have come and gone. We have seen big names in politics who oppressed us. Remember, unless you unite, you will achieve nothing.

Our children don’t know history: Today, our children are roaming around with mobile phones, but their parents have no idea what they are doing. In Jammu, there is only the National Conference, Congress, and BJP, while how many parties have been formed in Kashmir? A party has been formed in every household. They just want money, and they are ready to sell their conscience.

Bulldozers running in BJP-ruled states: In the rest of India, where the BJP is in power, are you seeing how people’s settlements are being razed, their homes are being bulldozed, and their shops are being demolished? Is something hidden from you?

BJP national spokesperson Prem Shukla said that Farooq Abdullah’s inner Pakistan awakens from time to time. When this inner Pakistan is revealed, he makes such irresponsible statements. Farooq Abdullah should think before making such absurd statements.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vinod Bansal said that Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India. He lives in India and praises Pakistan. Is Kashmir safe because of Pakistan or because of India’s strength? Is Kashmir safe because Pakistan pretends it is safe? If this is his statement, then there is no greater treason than this.

Farooq Abdullah has made such statements several times in the last five years.

In October 2021, Farooq Abdullah said that peace will not be achieved in Jammu and Kashmir until Pakistan is included in the talks. He also criticized the central government’s decision to revoke Article 370.

In July 2022, he said that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will not end until the government tries to win the trust of the people and engages in dialogue with neighboring Pakistan.

In August 2023, Farooq Abdullah stated that the Kashmir issue would not be resolved without honest dialogue between the two countries. He questioned the idea of border tourism and rallies as a permanent solution to the issue.

In May 2024, Farooq Abdullah, responding to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement regarding PoK, said that Pakistan is not just wearing bangles; it also possesses nuclear bombs, and unfortunately, they could impact India.

In May 2025, Farooq Abdullah, responding to India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, said that India can threaten to withhold water, but does not want to kill the people of Pakistan.
