Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday. It is currently the largest airport in the country and the second largest in Asia. Upon completion of Phase 4, it will become the largest airport in Asia.
Addressing the public gathering, the PM appealed to the people to unite and fight the crisis arising from the war between Israel, the US, and Iran. He said, “Yesterday I discussed with the Chief Ministers of all states. I urge the countrymen to face this crisis with patience and unity. This is a crisis that is troubling the entire world.”
The Prime Minister said, “I want to urge the country’s political parties to refrain from making statements that are detrimental to the country during this time of crisis. The public will never forgive actions that harm the country.”
The first phase of the airport has been completed. The terminal and runway have been constructed on approximately 3,300 acres of land. This terminal will be able to handle approximately 12 million passengers annually. The entire project has cost approximately ₹11,000 crore.
On this occasion, PM Modi emphasized the following points in his speech:
1. “The war in West Asia has created a crisis for the world.” There is a war going on in West Asia, creating a crisis in many countries. India imports large quantities of crude oil and gas from war-affected areas. Therefore, the government is taking every possible step to ensure that ordinary families and farmers are not burdened. All 1.4 billion citizens should face this crisis unitedly.
2. “Noida was previously abandoned due to superstition.” Noida was previously abandoned due to superstition. Previous rulers were afraid to come here for fear of losing their positions. When the SP government was in power here, I planned to visit Noida. The former Chief Minister (Akhilesh) was so scared that he did not attend the event. I was also threatened, told, “Don’t go to Noida. He’s just become the Prime Minister.”
3. The SP had turned Western UP into an ATM of loot. The SP had turned Western UP into an ATM of loot. When our government came to power, the SP was in power in UP. For the first two or three years, they prevented work on the Jewar Airport from proceeding. However, as soon as the BJP government came to power, the foundation stone for the Jewar Airport was laid, construction began, and it has now begun.
The Noida International Airport is proposed to be built on an area of 52 square kilometers. Its completion deadline is 2040. Officials with the Noida Airport Authority stated that flights from this airport could begin in May.
The airport’s greatest feature is that boarding is possible in less than 20 minutes after entry. Currently, the largest airport in Asia is Beijing Daxing International Airport in China, with an area of 47 square kilometers.
