The court, finding several major deficiencies in the Mumbai Police’s initial investigation, has handed over the case entirely to the CBI, opening a new chapter in the nearly six-year-old Disha Salian death case. Reports indicate that individuals ranging from politician Aditya Thackeray to police officer Paramvir Singh are under suspicion in this high-profile case.
According to recent developments, the case has reached the following stages:
Appointment of Special Investigation Officer: The CBI has appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police Puran Kumar as Special Investigation Officer (IO), taking charge of this high-profile case.
Records summoned from Mumbai Police: The CBI team has written to the Malvani Police Station in Mumbai, requesting the immediate handover of the case diary, post-mortem report, CCTV footage, and all forensic evidence. The Mumbai Police has also completed preparations to transfer these documents.
Father’s Statement and New FIR: On the instructions of the Bombay High Court, the CBI is recording a fresh statement from Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian. Based on this statement, a new criminal FIR is being filed.
Court’s Tough Stand: The High Court has clarified that the initial Accidental Death Report (ADR) investigation conducted by the Mumbai Police was legally inadequate. However, the court has also instructed that no one should be directly implicated in the initial stage without concrete evidence.
