Twitter employee fired for sleeping in office

Date:

San Francisco: Elon Musk’s tumultuous relationship with Twitter continues, as reports emerge that he has fired 50 employees, including Esther Crawford, who was heading up the company’s new Twitter Blue product. This news comes just weeks after Musk took over the social media platform and began laying off staff.

Crawford, who became popular for a viral image of her resting in a silver sleeping bag at Twitter’s office just days after Musk acquired the platform, was also responsible for Twitter Payments, which was seen as a potential new revenue source for the company.

According to reports from Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer and The Verge’s Alex Heath, the entire Twitter Blue product team was let go over the weekend. The move has left many Twitter employees fearing for their own jobs, with some losing access to the company’s internal communication platform Slack. It was later discovered that Musk had not paid the bills for Slack, causing temporary panic among employees.

This latest move by Musk highlights the unpredictability of his leadership style, which has been known to shake up entire organizations. It remains to be seen what impact these layoffs will have on Twitter’s future, and whether Musk’s leadership will bring the changes he envisions for the social media giant.
