Hot water comes as soon as you open the tap. How does a tankless geyser work?

When purchasing a geyser, people often get confused about the tank capacity and how many liters will be suitable for them. However, there are geysers that do not have a tank at all. These are called tankless geysers, and their specialty is that they take up very little space in the bathroom. Furthermore, when using this geyser, you don’t have to wait for the water to heat up; hot water is available as soon as you open the tap.

If you are considering a new geyser, you should consider a tankless geyser. It’s possible that this geyser may be more useful to you than a geyser with a larger tank.

As the name suggests, tankless geysers do not have a water tank. Water tanks typically range from 3 to 25 liters. Tankless geysers, on the other hand, do not have such a container. This makes them compact and doesn’t take up much space on bathroom walls.

With no tank, they heat water instantly, eliminating the need to wait for it to heat up.

Tankless geysers operate based on flow. As soon as you turn on the tap, the flow sensor inside the tankless geyser activates.

The water then passes through a high-power heating coil or heat exchanger. Within seconds, the powerful heating element instantly heats the flowing water.

As soon as the tap is closed, the sensor disconnects the power supply to the element.

In India, you can purchase tankless geysers for between ₹2,500 and ₹5,000. They typically have a capacity of 3 to 4.5 kilowatts. Premium brand tankless geysers have a power output of 5.5 kilowatts or more and are available in the range of ₹6,000 to ₹12,000. Compared to the price of geysers with tanks, these geysers prove to be economical in terms of initial cost.

Tankless geysers are best used in areas where continuous hot water is not required, such as for washing dishes in the kitchen. Furthermore, tankless geysers can also be useful in apartments or homes where there is no space for a large geyser in the bathroom.

If only 2-3 people in the house need hot water and need it immediately, a tankless geyser can work best without any wait.

Tankless geysers consume a lot of power to heat water. Therefore, it is essential to have at least a 16-20 ampere socket and strong wiring in the house. These geysers cannot handle the load on weak wiring. Furthermore, if the water pressure or flow is too high, they cannot heat the water to the boiling point that other tank-mounted geysers can.

Also, if you live in a snowy or hilly area, these will not be able to provide you with the boiling point that traditional geysers can.
