State-owned telecom company BSNL is soon expanding its 4G mobile network across the country. It will install 18,685 new towers with the help of TCS and Tejas Networks. Significantly, people will receive a 100% indigenous network, as the 4G network technology used by BSNL is completely ‘Made in India’. ET Telecom reports that Tejas Networks has received an order to supply Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and accessories for BSNL’s 4G mobile network.

Currently, BSNL 4G is operational at 100,000 sites. It has covered many major cities across the country, providing residents with better internet speeds and network coverage than ever before.
The launch of 18,685 new towers will further expand BSNL’s reach, allowing more people to connect to the company’s indigenous 4G network.

The biggest feature of BSNL 4G is that it can be converted to 5G through a single software upgrade. It is said that the company is rapidly expanding its 4G network so that it can be upgraded to 5G soon.

Recently, private telecom companies like Airtel and Jio have discontinued many of their recharge plans, forcing people to make expensive prepaid recharges. This could be a major opportunity for BSNL. People are talking about shifting to BSNL on social media. If the government company rapidly upgrades its network, it could gain customers, as BSNL’s recharge plans are cheaper than those of Airtel and Jio.

The launch of the BSNL 4G network will complete one year in September. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched this network on September 27, 2025. Since then, it has been rumored that the company will soon roll out its 5G services. BSNL has also confirmed this. The company has stated that it is preparing to launch its 5G services from Delhi and Mumbai.

The installation of 18,685 new towers will expand BSNL’s upgraded network reach to many more people. However, only the final order has been received. There is no information available on when this will be completed.
