Following the protest at the Prime Minister’s residence, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference to criticize the government.
On July 21st, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, staged a protest near the Prime Minister’s residence regarding the student issue. The following day, on Wednesday (July 22nd), Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference on this issue at Indira Bhawan in Delhi. During this, he raised the issue of the lathi charge by security forces on students. He also claimed that 152 papers had been leaked in the last 10 years.
On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that India’s education system has collapsed and the government is taking no steps to improve it. Earlier on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi held a protest near the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Confronting the government on the issue of the lathi charge on student protests in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said, “The question is, why is this happening to our students? What have our students done that security forces are pointing weapons at them? What wrong have they done?” They are protesting peacefully, expressing their demands, and demanding what the country deserves.
He further stated that they are simply saying that as students of this country, we deserve an education system that is fair. Children have even committed suicide. Our students go through immense stress and finally learn that the paper has been leaked.
Rahul Gandhi has placed three demands before the central government. The first is that Dharmendra Pradhan resign and be removed from his post.
The second demand is that all those who pointed fingers at our students be held accountable.
The third demand is that the person running this entire system should have the decency to apologize to the students for what has happened.
One thing that is clear to everyone is that our education system, which was considered one of the best in the world, is failing. Today, a rigged system has been created. We know that papers have been leaked 152 times in the last decade. If you do the math, there’s a leak almost every month. Every month, millions of students are told they have to go through the same stress they already experienced.
