Patna: In a significant step towards strengthening Bihar’s dairy and food processing sector, M/s Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (Amul Dairy) will establish a state-of-the-art dairy processing facility for milk and fresh dairy products in the state. Developed with an investment of approximately ₹200 crore, the project is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Bihar’s dairy industry, enhancing farmers’ incomes, expanding the milk value chain, and generating employment opportunities.
In this regard, a meeting of the Project Clearance Committee (PCC) of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) was held under the chairmanship of Shri Kundan Kumar, Secretary, Industries Department Cum MD, BIADA and IDA. During the meeting, approvals were granted for proposals related to the allotment of land and plug-and-play sheds to eligible applicants across various industrial areas of the state. As part of the approvals, M/s Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (Amul Dairy) was granted permission to establish a modern dairy manufacturing and processing unit at IA Fatuha, Patna.
The proposed facility will be developed over 13 acres of land and will manufacture and process milk and a wide range of fresh dairy products. The project is expected to significantly enhance the state’s dairy processing capacity and generate approximately 200 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Furthermore, it will provide better market access to local milk producers and dairy farmers while accelerating the growth of dairy-based industries in Bihar.
Hon’ble Industries Minister Ms. Shreyasi Singh stated that the Government of Bihar is committed to promoting agriculture and livestock-based industries across the state. She said that investments in the dairy sector will play a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy, increasing farmers’ incomes, and taking the food processing industry to new heights. She further added that the government is continuously working to establish Bihar as a leading hub for agriculture and food processing-based industries.
Shri Kundan Kumar, Secretary, Industries Department Cum MD, BIADA and IDA, stated that Bihar is providing investors with world-class infrastructure, transparent processes, and investor-friendly policies. He said that investments in the dairy and food processing sectors will accelerate the state’s industrial growth while creating new opportunities for employment and skill development for local youth.
