US blacklists 5 Chinese companies and a research institute in Spy balloon row

Date:

Washington: In response to China’s alleged spy balloon that flew over U.S. airspace, the U.S. has blacklisted six Chinese entities with links to Beijing’s aerospace programs.

This move, which limits the companies’ ability to obtain American technology exports, is part of the Biden administration’s broader efforts to address Chinese surveillance activities.

The blacklisted entities include companies involved in aerospace programs, airships, and balloons, which the U.S. alleges are being used by the People’s Liberation Army for intelligence and reconnaissance activities.

The incident further escalated the diplomatic row between the two countries and heightened concerns over China’s surveillance program.
