It’s very difficult to predict the political turn in Bihar at this time. On one hand, the BJP has kept its strategy under wraps and hasn’t even openly revealed the name of the new Chief Minister, while on the other hand, there’s a lot of murmuring within the JDU. Sometimes someone says one thing, then someone else. Nitish Kumar himself changes his stance frequently. In fact, when Nitish Kumar used to switch sides to remain Chief Minister of Bihar, no one knew about it until a few days ago. Even after changing alliances, he easily found a good excuse to maintain public support. And now, he can even say, “Hey, now we forget things.” While the BJP is currently focused on enhancing its party’s stature by installing a Chief Minister from its party in Bihar, the Nitish Kumar-led JDU is focused on maintaining control over the BJP-led government in Bihar and further enhancing its political standing in Delhi. While LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan is also making moves, the key leaders of the BJP and JDU are currently so busy planning and executing their own moves that they are paying no attention to Chirag Paswan’s.
As for the BJP, under the leadership of its new National President Nitin Naveen, it has summoned all its top leaders and ministers from Bihar to Delhi and is holding discussions with them. Neither any BJP leader nor BJP National President Nitin Naveen himself is revealing anything about these discussions. It’s unclear whether any discussions are taking place behind the scenes, or whether they are simply being told to quietly accept the name chosen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. If there’s any word coming out of the BJP camp, it’s simply that after Nitish Kumar’s resignation on April 14th, a BJP leader will soon occupy the Chief Minister’s chair.
Meanwhile, the JDU, in order to maximize political advantage both in Bihar and at the center, sometimes gets its state-level leaders to say something, and sometimes Nitish Kumar himself comes forward to speak.
In this context, JDU State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha has clearly stated that even if the next Chief Minister of the NDA in Bihar is from the BJP, Nitish Kumar will still lead the government.
Amidst speculation and discussions about the name of the new Chief Minister in Bihar, a major statement came from the JDU on Thursday. This statement was made by JDU State President Umesh Kushwaha. Umesh Kushwaha said, “There’s no need to worry about the Chief Minister’s position. Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister now. The government will continue to run under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Whatever Nitish Kumar wants will happen in Bihar, and whatever needs to happen will happen through the Nitish model.”
Umesh Kushwaha also spoke about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son and JDU leader Nishant Kumar. When asked whether the party intends to make him the Chief Minister of Bihar, Kushwaha replied, “Nishant Kumar is the future of our party. Let’s see what happens.” By saying this, Kushwaha hinted at a significant position for Nishant Kumar in the upcoming government, though various interpretations are being interpreted differently.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also offered Nitish Kumar to form a government with the Grand Alliance. When JDU state president Umesh Kushwaha was asked for his reaction, he said, “Forget about the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The party that the people rejected. The party whose leader is on foreign tours instead of being in the assembly during assembly sessions.” Let’s leave that party aside. Regarding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in as a Rajya Sabha member, he said, “This is a constitutional protocol. He is leaving and will return soon. Information regarding the subsequent government formation will be provided later.”
However, upon arriving in Delhi, CM Nitish Kumar took a significant U-turn after careful consideration. He stated, “I will take the oath tomorrow and will now remain here. I worked there (Bihar) for a long time. Now I am returning here (Delhi). I have done a lot of work there over the years, and will now work here. We have decided to remain here and leave the CM position there.” Regarding Nishant, Nitish Kumar stated, “Our leaders will speak about him.” However, previously, he used to talk about maintaining his hold on Bihar politics even after entering the Rajya Sabha.
Two or three days ago, the Uttar Pradesh President of the LJP (Ram Vilas) attempted to create a stir within the NDA camp by stating that the LJP (Ram Vilas) party would contest all the assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections independently, as it has no alliance with the NDA.
At present, all the major political parties within the NDA are making their own moves. Now let’s see what happens next!
