IT department finds tax evasion in BBC raids

New Delhi: The Income Tax Department found serious violations by BBC in the recent raids. According to reports, the BBC did not pay tax on certain transactions with foreign entities.

BBC broadcasts in various Indian languages. But the profitability shown by the firm is disproportionate to the scale of operations in the country.

According to the news release, the BBC officials deliberately delayed when asked to produce the documents and contracts. In addition to this, the statement of the employees and crucial documents have been found, the Income Tax Department added.

Meanwhile, BBC has not responded in this regard. The raid followed the controversy related to the banning of the BBC documentary, ‘India: The Modi Question’ in the country.
