An explosion occurred outside the BJP Punjab office in Chandigarh on Wednesday (April 1). The blood bank building is adjacent to the BJP office, where an Activa scooter was parked. The BJP Chandigarh and BJP Punjab offices in Chandigarh have two separate offices. The explosion occurred near the lower part of the Activa’s headlight. A sharp object struck the front wall. The BJP Punjab office is located in Sector 37, Chandigarh. A CFSL team arrived at the scene. Police are investigating the incident from every angle. Security agencies are on alert.
The scene has been cordoned off. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said that initial investigations indicate that an object resembling a crude bomb exploded. She added that preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by something resembling a crude bomb. However, it is not yet known whether the object was placed there or thrown. The explosion occurred around 5 pm.
Referring to the incident, BJP leader Vineet Joshi told the media that an explosion was heard outside the office around 5 pm, damaging a scooter and a car. While the police are investigating, it appears someone detonated the bomb outside the office.
Speaking to the media, the BJP leader said that smoke rose after the bomb blast. There was an atmosphere of panic all around after the smoke rose. We consider this a cause for concern. Such a blast outside the party office is concerning. The state BJP working president had been staying in the office for the past four days. He left only at 6 am today.
